Crowdsourced Problem-Solving Initiatives
Good morning!
This week, I’ve been focused on interviewing prospective employees, raising the bar for our business operations, and getting annual planning for 2025 underway. It’s an exciting time to reflect on where we’ve been and set the stage for where we’re headed. I’m energized by the possibilities ahead and grateful for the team’s hard work in making it all happen.

🎯 Crowdsourced Problem-Solving Initiatives
For this week's edition of the HOA Leaders' Brief, we’re diving into an innovative strategy that fosters collaboration and taps into the collective expertise of your community: Crowdsourced Problem-Solving Initiatives. This approach transforms challenges into opportunities by engaging HOA members and residents in identifying creative, practical solutions to common issues.
Why Crowdsourced Problem-Solving Works for HOAs
Crowdsourced problem-solving leverages the diversity of perspectives and experiences within your HOA community. By involving residents in decision-making, you not only generate innovative ideas but also foster a sense of ownership and engagement among community members. This can lead to faster problem resolution, stronger community bonds, and higher satisfaction levels.
How to Implement Crowdsourced Problem-Solving in Your HOA
Define the Problem Clearly: Start by identifying a specific challenge that needs to be addressed whether it’s finding ways to reduce common area expenses, tackling parking issues, or deciding on a new amenity for the community. Clearly outline the problem and the desired outcome.
Choose the Right Platform: Use digital tools like community forums, surveys, or HOA management apps to gather ideas. Alternatively, host in-person brainstorming sessions or focus groups to encourage face-to-face interaction.
Encourage Participation: Make it easy and appealing for residents to contribute. Offer incentives, such as recognition in the community newsletter or a small reward for the best ideas. Ensure that all voices are heard by creating an inclusive environment.
Evaluate Ideas: Assemble a committee or task force to review the suggestions. Prioritize ideas that align with the HOA’s budget, goals, and feasibility constraints.
Implement and Communicate: Once a solution is chosen, communicate the plan to residents. Share regular updates on the progress and celebrate the community’s role in shaping the outcome.
Implementation Tips for Success
Engage Early and Often: Create excitement around the initiative with a clear timeline and consistent updates.
Use Incentives: Consider offering small incentives like gift cards or recognition for contributors of implemented ideas.
Focus on Transparency: Share the decision-making process and explain why certain ideas were chosen or not.
By adopting a crowdsourced problem-solving strategy, HOAs can harness the collective wisdom of their communities to address challenges and foster a more engaged, collaborative environment. This approach not only strengthens relationships but also positions your HOA as a forward-thinking leader in community management.

Boardroom Brief
Union Park HOA Acts to Protect Neighborhood from Wild Hog Invasion
The Union Park Homeowner’s Association is tackling a growing issue with wild hogs damaging the community park and threatening safety. Recently, up to 15 hogs were spotted in the Andover Lakes neighborhood, which borders a wooded area. Their destructive behavior has forced the park to close, halting planned improvements. To solve the problem, the HOA is using professional trappers to remove the hogs in a safe and humane way. They also plan to build a fence to keep the animals out and protect the park. While homes are not yet damaged, the HOA is acting quickly to keep the neighborhood safe.
